Many of the Junior Golfers have a great time playing with their parents, but at some point, they may prefer to be playing with their friends. Once they have learned the finer points of etiquette, safety, and speed of play, they can earn their license to golf without adult supervision when:
11 years of age or older and have passed the Division 3 Operation 36 test and approved by the Mickelson National Professional staff. Please see Dave or Bruce once your Junior has “qualified”.
This is an opportunity for our Junior Golfers to participate in the Foothills Junior Interclub. This fun and competitive series runs throughout July and August. It is a great opportunity to meet players and play competitively at some of the best courses in and around the city.

Mickelson National Golf Academy will be offering a training program for junior golfers throughout the spring and summer as they prepare for competitive events. Players meeting the criteria will be invited to be part of the group training at the LaunchPad and Mickelson National from April – July, 2025. We have a wide range of ages of competitive players at Mickelson National who will invited to participate in this program, each with different roles and responsibilities. Building on the momentum from 2024 where we made a significant impact on the provincial golf scene, we hope to help our top players reach higher goals during 2025.

We have the official Alberta Golf ratings completed and information in hand. The shortest tees which are deck 8 will play as a par 58 and be a total yardage of 2700 with deck 7 3600 yards. The corresponding ratings are now uploaded on Golf Canada’s website so “anyone” who plays these tees can now register an official handicap. We have a scorecard in the making and a yardage guide as well that will be downloadable and shared unilaterally with the membership. We don’t want these to be tagged as junior tees, but a player friendly option for all who want to tackle the course in a format best for themselves. In addition to all this we have approved changing the markers from a black background to a white background, so they are more visible. We will flip these once we get them on property. This is such a great option for family play or newer golfers that will help pace of play and overall enjoyment of Mickelson National.
